This magnificent 235 acre park is a
Grade 1 historic park in the Sefton Park district of Liverpool. It is a Green
Flag and Green Heritage awarded site with beautiful features and monuments.
The Palm House where we will meet up is
home to the Liverpool Botanical Collection and is itself a Grade II listed
building. From 'Old Nick's caves' to the beautiful Fairy Glen and Aviary viewing
point, there's plenty of exploring to do with lovely photo opportunities. There
are a number of statues and monuments in the park to shoot, including the Grade
II listed Shaftsbury Memorial, Eros Fountain and Peter Pan statue.
The bandstand, popular since the
Victorian era, is said to be the inspiration for The Beatles' song Sgt Peppers
Lonely Hearts Club Band is a great target for photographers, very colourful so
Ektar / Velvia / Provia could be the order of the day !
If we have time, a visit to the local Georgian
style streets may be arranged, but going on recent experience we may struggle
to fit it all in !
Refreshments can be found at The Aviary Cafe as well at the Lakeside Cafe plus many pubs in the local area for a drink after the walk, its thirsty work all this photography! There are a number of parking points around the park and some on street parking, with trains to Mossley Hill and many buses to Aigburth Road.
