Photowalk - Grampian Pride Parade


When: Saturday 28 May, meet 1015


Where: We’ll meet at Caffè Nero at the top of Union St, near Holburn junction. Leaving the cafe at 1015 sharp.


What: We’re finally into events season and loads of opportunities for event, street and documentary photography!

First up is Grampian Pride, returning in full after a two year absence. A couple of us photographed the smaller stop-gap pride parade run last September on the same route, and can confirm it’s a great event for practicing street and plucking up the courage to ask for street portraits. The parade does move along quite quickly so if you want to catch any of it you’ll need to be quick on your feet.

We’ll depart from Caffè Nero at 1015 sharp and arrive at the assembly area on Alford Place well before the 1100 start of the parade, to allow plenty time to search out those interesting portraits and scout for the most interesting costumes, banners etc. The parade takes around an hour to get to Broad St, from where the crowds will disperse. There is a separate ticketed pride village event taking place in the afternoon which doesn’t form part of this photowalk, but might be of interest to some of you for more street opportunities.

All abilities welcome, bring whatever camera you have.

There is plentiful public transport to both start and end points but bear in mind there could be delays due to road closures. Get here in plenty of time and grab a coffee beforehand!
